01 / YOUR PIANO & THE ASSIGNMENT

Tell us what you know.

For a detail you cannot identify, write “Unknown” and explain. We’ll help with anything that needs a closer look.

Model and measurements are optional. Knowing the size can really help us identify the piano and compare similar instruments, but you can leave these blank and continue.

Model: enter it only if you know it. Do not guess from the brand or the piano’s height, and do not remove parts to find it.

Measurements: a grand’s front-to-back length or a vertical’s floor-to-top height is especially useful. Add both length and height if easy. Include centimetres or inches and say if it is approximate. See the photo measuring guide below. You can leave this field blank.

OPTIONAL · A LITTLE SIZE INFORMATION HELPS

Which vertical looks most like yours?

Spinet, console, studio and tall upright pianos are all vertical pianos. Look at the cabinet behind the keyboard—not a raised music rest. These photos are not to scale; measure your own piano rather than judging its size from the pictures.

Spinet · low backA compact cabinet, only a little higher than the keys. Ignore the raised music rest when measuring.

Medium verticalOften called a console or studio. More cabinet above the keys than a spinet.

Tall uprightA much taller cabinet above the keys. Older examples may look different from this modern one.

Vertical piano: measure height ↑

From the floor straight up to the top of the closed cabinet. Include its normal feet or wheels. Do not measure just to the keys, to a raised music rest, or to an open lid. Write, for example, “about 110 cm high”.

Grand piano: measure length ↔

From the very front edge of the keyboard case to the farthest end of the curved tail, keeping the tape horizontal along the outside. This is front to back, not across the keys. Write, for example, “about 175 cm long”.

For a square grand or another shape, describe what you measured if you can; otherwise leave it blank. Never move the piano, climb on it or lift a heavy lid to measure. Approximate is fine—tell us rather than guessing.

Spinet photo: Arbrertr / Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0, reused unchanged. Medium and tall examples: existing Norberg catalogue photographs (TS-110 and TSG-131). No endorsement by the external photographer is implied.

02 / YOUR PHOTO CHECKLIST

Take them. Add them here.

Use clear photos in good light. Your originals stay on your device; large JPG, PNG and WebP uploads are resized before sending. HEIC photos need a compatible JPG copy. Up to 16 photos and 9 MB in the final set.

Your safety comes first. Do not move the piano, remove fixed panels, lift heavy parts, touch strings or tuning pins, or reach into the mechanism. If an interior view or marking is not safely accessible, use the explanation option.

The form checks required answers and photo categories. Slava checks the actual photos for clarity, identity and sufficient evidence; completing this checklist does not guarantee that an online appraisal is suitable.
